My Flybaby-Biplane with the B 84…

For about 15 years I’m now constructing and building model engines of all kind of type.
The beginning was a private hobby of mine by building four stroke stationary engines and some “flame-eaters”, as I usually call all types of steam engines.
I was very engaged with this work; so I decided at least to change my hobby to profession:
In April 1995 I founded my little company “ Model Engines Armin de Vries”, original titled: Modellmaschinenbau Armin de Vries. –
So the “Simplex” four stroke stationary engine was the first model, I could offer as a complete mounted engine or as a building kit for ambitioned home-builders.
Within the following years, I developed several model engines - and I built ( and I’m still building today ) special constructions for technical muses or prototypes for private customers orders. –
Since all those years, my “ obsession” in building powerful four stroke engines increased and so I decided to construct and build my “own engines” for the model airplanes I was building and flying - ( a hobby of mine ,too…). –
At least the interest for the new V-motor, I developed for my “Big Stick”, increased within my circle of friends -- and between guys of several model associations:
In the year 2002 I decided to produce and to offer my new engine for interested customers: The production of the V42 started!
This engine was the beginning of several constructions within the last years, the newest development of mine is the B 84 – a four-cylinder, four stroke flat-engine for gasoline use without any necessary oil-adding to the gas used by this motor – continuing the philosophy, I started with the V42. –
Nearly all necessary parts for my model engines are no “industrial production” – they all are manufactured on conventional rotating and drilling machines – except the carburettor and the pats of the ignition- system – I obtain these supply-parts from well known high quality producers; the caster assembly parts for my machines I produce by using different processes for different forms and materials. –
The development of my engines is not finished by the printings of the CAD- program by my computer: Before I offer a new motor - development to a customer, I practice an extensive test in one of my airplane models : The only way I can recognize “weak points” that let me realize last modifications for a practical and reliable “ long-life-use” . –
How strong are my engines? Surely this question is very important for all potential users, who spent a lot of money and work for their large (scale) model – and now making up their decision to buy a suitable engine for it:
Intentional I have not made any descriptions for my engines with “hp” or ”kw”; I identify the power of my engines by a certain size of the used prop and the rpms it’s turned with – I think, those dates are more useful for everyone comparing the technical data of different engines.-

Now I wish you an enjoying “ journey” through the sites of my homepage – excuse my mistakes within the translation, because it is more simple for me building an engine than translating a text, as you see. – Nevertheless I’m working on it, so that all sites of my homepage will be available in a translated version for you within the next weeks.
